In 2001, German historian Lothar Machtan published a book claiming that Adolf Hitler was a homosexual, and that many of the dictator's vile actions could be traced to his sublimated sexuality and self-denial. Understandably, the book caused a controversy among historians, and led documentary filmmakers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato (PARTY MONSTER, THE EYES OF TAMMY FAYE) to produce a film exploring Machtan's claims. The film examines Machtan's evidence, as well as providing other historians and living witnesses the opportunity to support or refute the idea. Thirty years before the tragic events of 9/11, another September bore witness to a spectacular airline hijacking that changed the course of history. On September 6, 1970, a radical militant group simultaneously hijacked four European passenger jets in an act of solidarity with the Palestinian cause. While no one died in the incident, the event not only ushered in the rash of 1970s-era hijackings but set the stage for the use of terrorism as a political tool.
