D.W. Griffith: Years of Discovery: 1909-1913 (DVD)
Director D.W. Griffith is one of the true pioneers of the cinematic art form. Not only did he make some of the most acclaimed movies in Hollywood history--BIRTH OF A NATION, WAY DOWN EAST--he also shaped the way that narrative and editing are used to tell stories in motion pictures. Between 1909 and 1913, Griffith was under contract at the Biography Company, where he made 450 one and two reel short films. 22 of these shorts, which star such luminaries as Lillian Gish, Mack Sennett, and Lionel Barrymore are compiled on this collector's release. Not only are the films incredible works of early cinema, they are also amazing documents of early 20th century American life.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Audio: Dolby Digital Mono - EnglishAdditional Release Material: Audio Commentary - 1.
