One of the longest waits in cinema history was the fifteen year span between RETURN OF THE JEDI and STAR WARS EPISODE ONE - THE PHANTOM MENACE. This documentary follows the preparatory hype train for PHANTOM MENACE as it rolls through a convention, nationwide tour, and a gala event that includes movie stars and anonymous actors cloaked in robot costumes. The fanaticism and geekdom is on display as well as an insight into a promotional juggernaut.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Single Side - Dual LayerAdditional Release Material: Bonus Footage

A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese Through American Movies (DVD) A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese Through American Movies (DVD) » A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese Through American Movies (DVD)

Master auteur Martin Scorsese writes, directs, and hosts this compendium of the greatest works of American cinema, charting the medium's course from nickelodeon reels to digital imaging. The multipart series includes an exhaustive range of clips (supervised by longtime Scorsese editor Thelma Schoonmaker) and interviews with great directors who discuss the nature of cinema authorship and the changing role of the filmmaker. The film consists of head-and-shoulder shots of Scorsese talking to the camera and longer film clips with the director's voice-over, with Scorsese approaching the series in a deeply personal manner, speaking in terms of how films affected him as a director first, followed by the effect they had on him as a storyteller and fan. It is this intimate approach that makes the British Film Institute coproduction such an original achievement. Rather than force Scorsese to tell an objective history, it lets his fanaticism and love for the cinema shine through by allowing him to choose film clips that moved him as an individual. Various chapters include The Director's Dilemma, The Director as Storyteller, The Director as Illusionist, The Director as Smuggler, and The Director as Iconoclast.DVD Features:Region 1Keep Case2-Disc SetFull Frame - 1.33:1Single Side - Dual LayerAudio: Dolby Digital Stereo 2.0 - EnglishInteractive Features: Scene Access Interactive Menus

When J.H. Hatfield published a biography of George W. Bush entitled FORTUNATE SON in 1999, it looked set to become a best seller. Not afraid to detail the past indiscretions of the President, Hatfield alleged that Bush had been arrested for cocaine possession back in 1972. Publishers St. Martins Press got cold feet when they discovered Hatfield was a former felon, and immediately withdrew the publication from the shelves. Arguments raged as to whether or not the Bush administration was the real force behind the decision to drop the book, but one fact remained for sure: FORTUNATE SON was out of circulation. The tiny Soft Skull Press decided to relaunch Hatfield's tome, but struggled to make any headway towards getting the book into stores. A last throw of the dice for Soft Skull came at the 2001 Book Expo of America, where the company decided to reveal the source for much of Hatfield's information--namely Karl Rove, a close political confidant of George W. Bush. A media frenzy ensued, and the book wound up back in publication. But further sinister events were to unfold, leaving many vital questions about the Bush administration unanswered. These events are expertly detailed in HORNS AND HALOS, a moving documentary from directors Suki Hawley and Michael Galinsky (HALF-COCKED). Speaking to many key players involved in the case, they create a detailed study, and point to some frighteningly bleak implications for the publishing world as a result of Hatfield's experiences.DVD Features:Region (unknown)Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Additional Release Material: Commentary: 1.
